I hold a BA in Journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill (http://www.jomc.unc.edu/) and a Master's in English and Creative Writing from North Carolina State University (http://english.chass.ncsu.edu/creativewriting/). I've enjoyed freelancing for 12 years. I write for Our State, the Raleigh News & Observer (real estate), The Cary News (columnist), The Southwest Wake News (columnist), Cary Living, Pinehurst Magazine, Midtown Magazine (columnist), North Carolina State University, Smithfield's Chicken 'N Bar-B-Q and Victory Pharmaceuticals.

Awards/Recognition: First-place winner in N.C. Press Club competitions (2006-2011) and the National Federation of Press Women (2010, 2011); four magazine feature articles placing in Writer’s Digest 79th Annual National Writing Competition (2010); and a contributor for three Chicken Soup for the Soul books: “The Christmas Gift,” “Tales of Christmas” (October 2010) and “New Moms” (March 2011).
